Missed Call Calculator
Every unanswered call is a job someone else booked. Put in four numbers and see what your missed calls are actually costing you a year. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is emailed unless you ask for it.
Start from a typical business
These are plausible starting points, not research — they exist so you have something to push against instead of a blank box. Replace all four with your own numbers before you believe the figure.
Adjust the numbers above to match your business.
A deliberately conservative model: it only counts the calls you miss, at your own close rate, at your own average ticket. It ignores referrals that caller would have sent you and the review they never left — so treat the figure as a floor, not a ceiling.
Want this number in writing?
I will email you your figure, the four inputs behind it, and the three fixes ranked cheapest first — so you still have it when you are deciding what to do about it.
One email with your result. No sequence unless you ask for one, and you can unsubscribe from anything I send in one click.
Missed call revenue calculator, missed call cost calculator, same maths
Whether you searched for a missed call calculator, a missed call revenue calculator or a lost call cost calculator, the question underneath is the same one: what is not answering the phone actually worth? For most service businesses the honest answer is uncomfortable, because the number is not the value of one job — it is that number multiplied by fifty-two.
Why missed calls cost more than the job
A caller with a burst pipe, a broken air conditioner or a cracked tooth is not leaving a voicemail and waiting. They are calling the next result. So the loss is not just the ticket — it is the repeat work, the referrals and the review that customer would have left. The calculator above ignores all of that on purpose, so the figure you see is the floor.
The other thing worth being honest about: most missed calls are not laziness. They happen because the person who answers the phone is also the person on the roof, under the sink or with a patient. That is a structural problem, and hiring is the expensive answer to it.
What to do about it, cheapest first
- Missed-call text-back. The cheapest fix that exists. Any unanswered call triggers an automatic text within seconds: “Sorry we missed you — what do you need?” Plenty of callers reply to that instead of dialling your competitor. This alone recovers a meaningful slice of the number above.
- After-hours routing. Emergency calls at 9pm are the highest-value calls you get. Route them somewhere rather than to voicemail.
- An AI phone agent. Answers every time, qualifies the caller, books the slot. You can call one I built on (702) 710-8817 and judge it yourself before deciding whether it belongs in your business.
- Then, and only then, more people. Headcount is the right answer sometimes — but it is worth knowing the automated options first, because they cost a fraction and never call in sick.
If the number above is large enough to bother you, the useful next step is working out which fix applies to your setup. That is exactly what the free 2-minute AI Automation Score is for — or read the longer piece on AI phone agents and never missing a lead.
